Every Simplehire screening interview runs with browser proctoring, on every tier and at every price. For roles where a stand-in or hidden help would cost you more, you can add up to three optional checks. All of them record or flag events for a person to review, and none of them decides anything on its own.
What runs on every screen?
On Basic, Adaptive and Advanced alike:
- The interview runs in enforced full-screen mode, and leaving full-screen is recorded.
- Copy, cut and paste are restricted or flagged.
- Tab switches, window changes and focus loss are monitored.
- Common shortcuts for copying, searching or switching are blocked or flagged.
- Every integrity event is timestamped in the report, and alerts carry a severity of Low, Medium, High or Critical concern.
- Interview audio is recorded, and alerts come with screenshots.
Which checks can you add?
| Feature | What it adds |
|---|---|
| ID check | A government ID check and live face match before the interview, set to Off, Optional or Required |
| Second-device proctoring | The candidate's own phone as a side camera on their desk |
| Desktop proctoring | Checks for risky applications such as remote-desktop tools, on supported Windows and Mac interviews |
Each has its own page:
- Desktop proctoring for AI interviews (Windows and Mac): Simplehire Proctor has candidates on Windows and Mac close risky apps before an AI interview and records high-severity findings. No screen or keystroke capture.
- ID check with live face match for remote candidates: Set Simplehire's ID check to Off, Optional or Required. When required, candidates pass a government ID check and live face match before the interview.
- Second-device proctoring: a side camera on the candidate's desk: Second-device proctoring pairs the candidate's own phone as a side camera on their desk. Nothing to install, no account, and candidates are told first.
When are the optional checks worth it?
Use them where a stand-in or hidden help would cost the most: remote roles, contract roles with access to client systems, and senior or client-critical submissions. For high-volume first screens, the checks on every tier usually cover it. Our staffing agency guide suggests settings by role type, and the IT staffing guide covers remote contractors.
Who reviews the findings?
A person, every time. Simplehire raises alerts and puts them in the screening report next to the verdict, and the recruiter reviews them and decides. The proctoring overview has more detail.
Frequently asked questions
Which integrity checks are included on every Simplehire screen?
Every tier (Basic, Adaptive and Advanced) runs in enforced full-screen mode, restricts or flags copy, cut and paste, monitors tab switches, window changes and focus loss, and blocks or flags common shortcuts. Events are timestamped in the report, interview audio is recorded, and alerts come with screenshots.
Does Simplehire detect AI use or cheating?
No. Simplehire records integrity events, such as tab switches, pasted text, risky desktop applications or a second person on the side camera, and flags them for a person to review. The recruiter decides what they mean.
Which optional checks can a recruiter add?
An ID check set to Off, Optional or Required, a required second device that gives a side-camera view of the desk, and desktop proctoring with Simplehire Proctor on supported Windows and Mac interviews.
