We make Simplehire, so read this as one vendor's comparison. With Spark Hire's video interview product, candidates record answers to your questions on their own time (or meet you live) and your team watches the recordings, from $249 a month billed annually for unlimited interviews. Simplehire is an AI voice interview: an AI interviewer asks about the role's required skills in the candidate's browser, and the recruiter reads a report instead of watching recordings, at $2 to $5 per screen.
The two tools do different jobs. Spark Hire puts the candidate on camera for people to watch. Simplehire runs the first conversation for you and records the audio and any integrity events.
Everything we say about Spark Hire comes from Spark Hire's own website, checked on 19 October 2026 and linked in the sources below.

When is Spark Hire the better choice?
Spark Hire is the better fit when:
- Your clients want to see the candidate. Spark Hire's Bullhorn integration lets recruiters invite candidates from a tab on the job or candidate record, watch the videos in Bullhorn and share them with clients in one click. Simplehire records interview audio, not video, so it can't give a client a recorded video answer.
- You also run live video interviews. Spark Hire's plan includes unlimited live interviews alongside one-way ones.
- You screen at steady, high volume. Spark Hire's starting price covers unlimited interviews, so above about 150 screens a month it costs less in software than Simplehire Basic at list price (Spark Hire's price varies by company size). The work moves to review, since someone watches each recording, though Spark Hire's optional AI transcribes in 50+ languages, summarizes responses and scores submissions "against key factors".
- You want your team to judge candidates from watching them. Spark Hire's one-way video page says "No Automated Decisions", keeps its AI scoring optional, and says the product isn't designed for teams that want to fully automate screening.
Spark Hire also sells an applicant tracking system, a behavioral assessment and reference checks, if you'd rather buy several hiring tools from one vendor.
When is Simplehire the better choice?
Simplehire fits better when the first screen needs to test what the candidate knows, and when you need a record of how the interview went.
- The interview responds to the answers. In Spark Hire's words, "Every candidate answers the same questions under the same conditions." Simplehire's Adaptive tier adds follow-up questions for technical and client-submission roles, and Advanced has an optional coding round, scored separately. Follow-ups make a rehearsed answer less useful, because the next question is about what the candidate just said. We compare the formats in AI voice interview vs one-way video.
- The recruiter reads a report instead of watching videos. The report gives a verdict, skills demonstrated, strengths and areas to probe, and the audio is there for the parts that matter.
- Integrity checks run on every screen. The interview runs in enforced full-screen, and leaving it, switching tabs, losing focus and pasting text are recorded with timestamps. Alerts come with screenshots. Per role, you can add desktop proctoring on supported Windows and Mac interviews, a paired second device for a side-camera view, and an ID check with a live face match. That matters most in remote IT placements, where proxy interviews are a known problem.
- Your volume is low or uneven. Under about 150 screens a month, Simplehire Basic costs less than Spark Hire's starting price, and a quiet month costs only what you screen.
A person reviews every alert and makes every hiring decision.
Where we fall short: Simplehire has no ATS integrations today and no video for clients to watch.
How do you test both?
Spark Hire's pricing page doesn't mention a free trial, but its video interview plan can be bought month to month, from $299. Simplehire's 25 free Basic screens a month cover a small pilot.
- Pick three live reqs: one high-volume, one technical role you submit to clients, and one where the client usually wants to meet the candidate early.
- Use the same questions or required skills in both tools.
- Split each req's applicants between the tools so no candidate interviews twice.
- Time how long recruiters spend per candidate in each: watching recordings versus reading reports.
- Track how many candidates you submit from each tool, what clients say about them, and any integrity alerts that changed a decision.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Spark Hire cost?
On 19 October 2026, Spark Hire's video interview plan started at $249 a month billed annually, or $299 a month billed monthly, with unlimited live and one-way video interviews. Its pricing page says pricing varies by company size, and the monthly plan is limited to 5 jobs at a time and 5 users.
Is Simplehire a one-way video interview tool?
No. In Simplehire the candidate talks with an AI interviewer in the browser, and on Adaptive and Advanced the interviewer asks follow-up questions based on the answers. The recruiter reads a report that opens with a verdict and can listen to the audio. Simplehire records interview audio, not video.
Which is cheaper, Simplehire or Spark Hire?
It depends on volume. With 25 free Basic screens a month, Simplehire Basic costs less than Spark Hire's $249 starting price up to about 150 screens a month. Above that, Spark Hire's flat price for unlimited interviews costs less, though someone on your team still watches the recordings.
Does Spark Hire integrate with Bullhorn?
Yes. Spark Hire's Bullhorn page says you can invite candidates to video interviews from Bullhorn, watch the videos there and share them with clients in one click. Simplehire has no ATS integrations today.
