Simplehire vs HireVue: full hiring platform or pay per screen

Simplehire vs HireVue: interview formats, pricing, integrity checks and ATS links compared, with HireVue's details taken from its own site on 19 Oct 2026.

LinkedInX

We make Simplehire, so read this as one vendor's comparison. HireVue is a hiring platform for mid-sized and enterprise employers that combines an AI Interviewer, one-way and live video interviews and skills assessments, sold through a demo without published prices. Simplehire's recruiter product is an AI voice screening interview in the candidate's browser with proctoring on every screen, priced from $2 per screen with no contract.

So the choice is mostly about scope. If you want one vendor for most of the hiring process, from assessments to live interviews, HireVue is built for that. If you're a recruiter or agency that wants a first screen with integrity checks, paid for by the screen and started without a sales call, Simplehire fits better.

Everything we say about HireVue comes from HireVue's own website, checked on 19 October 2026 and linked in the sources below. (HireVue's site currently writes its name "Hirevue".)

When is HireVue the better choice?

HireVue covers far more of the hiring process than we do. It's the better pick when:

  • You want assessments as well as interviews. HireVue's home page lists job-relevant skills tests, game-based assessments and an Assessment Builder, and its RPO and staffing page describes technical assessments that include coding proficiency.
  • You need live interviews too. HireVue's video interviewing page covers on-demand video and live interviews in HireVue, Zoom, Teams or Webex, with AI summaries and searchable transcripts.
  • You run an enterprise ATS. HireVue describes itself as a Workday Select Partner, an SAP Silver Partner and an Oracle Gold Partner, with integrations for each.
  • Your legal or procurement team wants governance paperwork. The AI Interviewer page lists adverse impact testing before a model goes live, annual independent audits, a candidate AI opt-out and accommodation requests. HireVue publishes more of this kind of documentation than we do.
  • You need specific security credentials. HireVue's pricing page lists SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and FedRAMP, which matters for public-sector hiring.
  • You hire in several languages. The AI Interviewer page lists English, Spanish, French and Portuguese, "and More".

When is Simplehire the better choice?

Simplehire fits a narrower job: the first screen before a recruiter spends time on a candidate or sends them to a client.

  • You want to see the price first. Basic is $2, Adaptive $3 and Advanced $5 per screen. Every workspace gets 25 free Basic screens a month with no credit card, and there's no contract. You can start free without a demo.
  • Proxy interviews and hidden helpers are a real risk in your roles, as they are in a lot of remote IT contracting (see how to spot a proxy interview). Every Simplehire screen runs in enforced full-screen, records tab switches, focus loss and paste attempts with timestamps, records the audio, and attaches screenshots to alerts. Per role, you can turn on the desktop proctoring app for supported Windows and Mac interviews, a paired second device for a side-camera view of the desk, and an ID check with a live face match.
  • You want depth to match the role. Adaptive adds follow-up questions for technical and client-submission roles. Advanced goes deeper for senior roles and has an optional coding round, scored separately.
  • You want a short report. Each one opens with a verdict, then skills demonstrated, strengths and areas to probe. A recruiter reviews every alert and makes every hiring decision.

HireVue lists integrity tools as well, and its FAQ ties image capture to "eligible OnDemand hiring experiences". If you compare the two on integrity checks, ask HireVue which of its checks apply to the AI Interviewer specifically.

Where we fall short: Simplehire covers the screening interview only, and has no ATS integrations today.

How do you test both?

HireVue starts with a demo, so the pilots run on different clocks. Book the demo and run Simplehire's free screens in the same two weeks.

  1. Pick three live reqs, including at least one technical role you'd submit to a client.
  2. In the HireVue demo, ask for the price at your monthly volume, the contract length, which fraud checks apply to the AI Interviewer, and whether your ATS is supported.
  3. Set up the same roles in Simplehire with their required skills and send the link to real applicants. The 25 free Basic screens a month cover a small pilot; use Adaptive ($3) for the technical role.
  4. Compare the reports with what your recruiters and hiring managers decided after their own conversations.
  5. Price both at your real annual volume, including the contract terms HireVue quotes.

Frequently asked questions

How much does HireVue cost?

HireVue doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page asks you to request a demo, and we found no free tier or contract terms stated on the pages we checked. Simplehire publishes per-screen prices: $2 Basic, $3 Adaptive and $5 Advanced, with 25 free Basic screens a month and no contract.

Does HireVue run AI voice interviews?

Yes. HireVue's site says its AI Interviewer runs voice-based screening interviews with follow-up questions and scores answers against a rubric. HireVue also sells on-demand (one-way) and live video interviews and skills assessments. Simplehire's recruiter product runs one kind of screen, an AI voice screening interview in the candidate's browser.

Is Simplehire a HireVue alternative for staffing agencies?

For the screening step, it can be. Simplehire suits agencies that want published per-screen prices, no contract and integrity checks on every screen, such as enforced full-screen, recorded tab switches and an optional ID check with a live face match. HireVue has an RPO and staffing page and covers more of the hiring process, including assessments and live interviews, and is sold through a demo.

Which one connects to my ATS?

HireVue's integrations page lists Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle and Taleo, SmartRecruiters, iCIMS, Greenhouse and others. Simplehire has no ATS integrations today; recruiters send the interview link and read the report in Simplehire.
